Where belonging begins
Resilient Communities Through Fun & Play brings together two of our most beloved programs: monthly Engagement Nights and year-round community empowerment events. Together, they create the conditions for immigrant and refugee families to feel at home in Louisville.
Every month, we gather for shared meals, music, storytelling, and honest conversation. Between events, we connect families to resources, navigate systems together, and create joyful spaces through bowling nights, park days, cultural celebrations where community is built one interaction at a time.

How we build community
Engagement Nights
Monthly community gatherings built around shared meals, cultural expression, and honest conversation. Open to all \u2014 families bring dishes from home, children play, and neighbors become friends.

Community Empowerment & Fun Play
Year-round events connecting families to practical resources while creating joyful spaces to play and belong. Bowling nights, park days, cultural celebrations, and resource fairs \u2014 all free, all welcoming.

Program details
Who we serve and how
Population served
Open to all community members in Louisville. Primary participants are immigrant and refugee families from Somali, Somali Bantu, and East African communities, as well as long-term Louisville residents and community partners.
Schedule
Year-round. Engagement Nights are held monthly. Fun & Play events and resource fairs run seasonally. All programming is delivered in South Louisville and the West End in spaces accessible by public transit.
Partners
Metro United Way, Louisville Metro Office of Safe & Healthy Neighborhoods, Louisville Coalition for Immigrant Support, Somali Bantu Community of Kentucky, and local faith and civic organizations.
Cost
All events are free and open to the community. No registration required for most gatherings. Interpretation is available in Somali, Somali Maay, and other languages upon request.
