Who We Are

More Than A Smile Foundation is a community-rooted, globally connected nonprofit committed to uplifting immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities through mentorship, education, and culturally responsive support.

Born from lived experience, we exist to bridge cultural, generational, and systemic divides creating pathways for youth leadership, family stability, and community well-being across both local and global contexts. 

From neighborhoods in Louisville, Kentucky to refugee communities in Kenya, our work is grounded in one principle: meet people where they are. Whether on soccer fields, in classrooms, in community spaces, or through global virtual programs, we walk alongside individuals and families with compassion, trust, and consistency. 

We believe that a smile should never be a mask for struggle but a symbol of strength, dignity, and belonging.  What began as a grassroots effort rooted in one family’s experience has grown into a movement that connects communities across borders amplifying voices, building leadership, and creating spaces where healing, opportunity, and hope can thrive.

We exist because millions of immigrant and refugee families around the world are navigating displacement, poverty, and systemic barriers with limited support. Too many individuals are excluded from the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.

Across these contexts, common challenges persist; language barriers, lack of access to education and healthcare, digital exclusion, and limited pathways to economic mobility. For youth, this often means growing up without safe spaces, mentorship, or opportunities to lead. For women and families, it can mean isolation, restricted access to services, and barriers to economic independence.

We exist to bridge these gaps.

Rooted in lived experience and community voice, we create culturally responsive, accessible spaces where individuals are supported, connected, and empowered. By investing in youth leadership, strengthening families, and building global connections, we transform barriers into pathways for growth and opportunity.
