Fund the Breaks: Beyond the Field Is Back

School breaks can be the hardest time of year for immigrant and refugee youth in Louisville.

When school lets out, the safety net disappears. No structure. No meals. No mentors. For families already navigating so much, that gap is real — and it falls hardest on the children who can least afford it.

That is why we created Beyond the Field. And this November, we are asking you to help us keep it going.

What Beyond the Field Does

Beyond the Field is free, structured programming for youth ages 5 to 18 during every school break — fall, winter, spring, and summer. Sports. Arts. Cultural programming. Leadership development. Meals provided. All of it free. All of it designed for the immigrant and refugee youth who make up the heart of our community.

This past summer, we served more than 200 young people. We watched quiet kids find their voice. We watched teenagers step into leadership. We watched children make their first real friends.

That does not happen by accident. It happens because people invest in it.

The Fund the Breaks Campaign

Starting November 1, we are launching Fund the Breaks — a campaign to raise the resources we need to keep Beyond the Field running through every school break in 2027.

Here is what your support makes possible:

• $25 covers one child’s supplies for a full break session
• $100 keeps a youth in programming for an entire school break
• $500 funds a full day of programming for the whole group
• $2,500 sponsors an entire break session for 200+ youth

Every dollar goes directly to the program. No overhead games. No vague impact statements. Real kids, real programming, real results.

Why Now

Fall break is coming. Then winter break. Then spring. Each one is a gap that families cannot fill on their own — and that we can fill together.

We have the program. We have the staff. We have the relationships with families who trust us. What we need is the funding to keep showing up.
